Teacher Appreciation Gift Bag with Tutorial

I thought that for Lets Talk Tuesday this week we'd shake things up creating a small gift with scrapbooking supplies.  As a paper crafter I (probably like many of you) have accumulated quite a stash of paper crafting supplies. I like to put those supplies to good use whether it's on a scrapbooking page, a card, or a gift. This time, I created a cute gift bag for a teacher appreciation gift.


I used the Soak Up the Sun collection (by Carta Bella Paper) to make this a bright happy gift. I started with a kraft gift bags and a few elements from Carta Bella Paper's Soak Up the Sun collection.

I knew I wanted to use the Moped Die Set so I started by cutting the pieces for that with some patterned paper, black cardstock, and gray cardstock and a manual die cut machine (Sizzix Big Shot)

After I cut out all the pieces I was ready to start working on the gift bag.

I added a paper doily on the edge of the bag and trimmed the edge of the doily off the bag.

After I added the doily I cut two circles from patterned paper in the Soak Up The Sun 6x6 Paper Pad using a circle cutter . I embossed the smaller circle with the Cloud Embossing Folder once again using a manual die cutting machine (Sizzix Big Shot).

Then, I added the circles on top of the doily.

After adding the doily and the patterned paper circles to the gift bag I was ready to finish it up with some stickers and a little bit of Soak Up The Sun Decorative Tape, Striped Washi Tape.

 I think I'll fill this cute bag with a few treats and maybe a gift card for a cute teacher appreciation gift. Last year when I helped with a teacher appreciation dinner I created some cute water bottles for the entire staff at my kids school. You can find all the details to that HERE.

Teacher Appreciation Gift Idea

A couple of months ago I was put on the school board at my son's school.

Let me make something clear, right off the bat; I had no idea what I was getting myself into! 

I've been in more meetings over the last couple of months than I ever have. I also (gasp) had to buy a pair of dress pants. All I owned in my "pre-school board days" was yoga pants and jeans. What would a stay-at-home/scrapbooking mom need dress pants for? I learned all to quickly the answer to that question...school board meetings.

Because I've spent so much time at the school and know a little more about what goes on "behind the scenes" I was more than happy to help with Teacher Appreciation Week. Because we were a little short handed and short on time we kept things simple and provided the staff with lunch and a gift basket with plenty of fruits, vegetables and a little taste of chocolate. A local produce company Provident Produce graciously provided us with boxes and boxes of yummy apples, bananas, cucumbers, peppers, strawberries, and grapefruit. I'm so grateful for their help!

As a more crafty, personal touch I created these adorable water bottles for each teacher. Most of them were eating their lunch on the go so water bottles worked perfectly!

The lunch turned out perfectly. It was so fun to visit with the teachers and get to know them a little bit better.

Teacher Appreciation Gift Idea

Next week is Teacher Appreciation week. (Here's your reminder if you're like me and you forget stuff like that.)  I'm room mom for my little lady's classroom. I don't get to spend enough time with her class so I wanted to show her teacher how much I appreciate her taking care of and teaching all the little ones in her class.
Here's what I came up with for a gift for her teacher:

 I kept this project super simple, all I did was cover the box the soda came in with patterned paper by tracing the box, cutting out the patterned paper and adhering it to the box with double sided sticky tape.

I die cut the "thank you" part of the title with my Silhouette and finished the title by adding thickers. I added a little bit of texture with a ribbon wrapped around the middle of the box and topping it with a button.

 I created an accordion flower and added a sticker in the center.
