I have a project to share with you today that I am so excited about. This is a little bit different than the traditional scrapbooking that I usually do. This approach to memory keeping is called
Project Life.
Project life is hitting the scrapbooking industry by storm because of the simplicity. Anyone can start
Project Life without any fancy tools, adhesive, or embellishments.
This approach to scrapbooking appeals to me as a traditional scrapbooker because I adore journaling cards. I use them all.the.time. Also, when creating a layout I often have a few extra photos that don't fit within my design so by adding a divided page protector next to my traditional layout I can add the extra photos and journaling without creating several layouts about the same event.
With one quick trip to your local Michaels you can get started with Project Life
or you can add Project Life to your traditional scrapbooking. Michaels carries a ton of supplies for Project Life including The Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic Core Kit that has a soft beautiful pastel color palette with whimsical icons such as typewriters, foxes, trees and birds. Michaels also carries the Vintage Travel Core Kit which includes a distressed-vintage-travel theme with a rich color palette of navy blues, brick reds, and kraft and icons of airplanes, trains, and maps.
On this particular project I chose to use the Vintage Travel Core Kit on a traditional two page layout. I used the journaling cards in a few different ways. I used them as journaling cards, as photo mats, as a base for embellishment clusters and as a base for my title.
I chose to create with this kit because I wanted to document my photos from my trip to Vegas AND I wanted to use the remaining supplies on projects in my son's albums. These colors are perfect for masculine projects and travel themed pages alike.
This is how I used the cards to create a space for my title and embellishment clusters.
On the right hand side of my project I used the cards to create a grid design. Some of them were used as journaling spots, as a base for my embellishments, and some I used to mat my photos.
The card in the middle of the bottom row also serves another purpose. This is probably my favorite feature of the card kit. This card came scored so that I could attach my photo on the outside and add some additional journaling.
