Why I Joined the Memory Planner Club

Why I joined the Memory Planner Club by @jbckadams Becki Adams
I've always had a paper planner of some sort. I was the nerd in high school and carrying my Franklin Planner. Do you remember those? I LOVE my planners! When the whole planner craze hit the scrapbooking world, I resisted. And I may have even said that I would never keep a "fancy" planner. My planners have been practical, not very pretty, and very used. I didn't see the purpose in making a planner pretty. Why I didn't think a planner needed to be pretty, I'm not sure. I still don't think a planner has to be pretty, but I've decided that I want my planner to be pretty.

When the Heidi Swapp Memory Planner came out I fell in love with it. I love that it combines memory keeping with the everyday "stuff" that goes on. And that my friends, is why I'm starting the month of August with a Memory Planner. I'm going to combine my memory keeping with the "stuff" that happens every day.
One thing that I love about this planner is that you can start it at any time. The monthly pages aren't filled in so it will work for any month in any year. Starting a planner in January hasn't made sense to me since I've had school aged kids. I always start fresh with a new schedule and a new planner in August.

To get my planner started I printed my kids school schedules, my schedule, and gathered some fun embellishments. I may have gone a little overboard with the embellishments, no judging.

Along with the embellishments I gathered some adhesive. I chose This To That Adhesive from American Crafts because I love the size (it fits easily in my bag) and Glue Dots because they're a stronger adhesive for holding the heavier embellishments like chipboard and wood veneer. I also have a package of my favorite pens in my planner bag, Precision Pens.

I may or may not have stolen this little bag from my mom because all of my planner stuff fits into it perfectly. I can easily take the bag with me if I need to or just take my planner with me. The bag sits on a shelf in my closet, packed and ready to go whenever I need it. I'm going to try using this bag for a while but I have my eye on this bag from We R Memory Keepers. I think it would work great a planner tote too!

I'm curious? Have you jumped on the planner bandwagon?

  1. I enjoyed your post! I've used a Franklin Planner for years. I have a lovely floral tapestry binder for it and I get the blooms refills so that there are lovely colors and images for each season. I love scrapping and have thought about how I feel As a person who loves playing with paper and recording memories it's very tempting! I haven't made up my mind yet. I really need to see some of these in person before I'm ready to buy one, but that becomes more and more difficult as the local scrap stores close...
Anyway, thanks for sharing and thanks for asking about my planner habits!

  2. Hello Ruth! I'm so excited to have found a fellow Franklin Planner user!! I, like you, was on the fence for a long time. It is hard to decide without seeing the planner in person. I've got a couple of planner videos coming in the future, maybe they will help you decide. :) Thanks for your sweet comments!
