Let's Talk Tuesday: What to do with all that Washi Tape

Happy Tuesday morning! Thanks for stopping by for another edition of Let's Talk Tuesday. Today we're talking about washi tape. I don't know if I should be proud or ashamed of the amount of washi tape that is currently in my stash. Let's just say that if I was to stop my collection of washi tape right now I would still never be able to use it all.
I created 2 new projects using washi tape to share with you today. I had so much fun making a small dent in my washi tape stash.
On this first project I created a background with washi tape. This is a great way to get lots of that tape use and get it on your projects.

 This layout is about grocery shopping and how it changes over the summer when there are 6 kids at my house.

 I included a copy of my grocery receipt on the back of my layout, just for fun. Maybe one day my kids will be shocked at the cost of groceries when they were little.

The second project I created I used washi tape to create a grid and to attach photo frames. This doesn't use a ton of washi tape but it does make a very easy framework to follow for a layout

While we're talking about Washi tape let's talk a little bit about storing your washi tapes. Here are a couple of ways I store my tapes.
I don't store them all the in the same place. Most of my storage is done by manufacturer. So my tapes are divided accordingly. Most of my tapes come from Bella Blvd the other tapes are from various manufacturers and are stored together in a basket

My Bella tapes are stored on a few different things that I picked up at the thrift store. They sit on the corner of my desk.

 The one on the right is actually a jewlery holder that I disassembled and  only use part of now. The one on the right used to be a toothbrush holder (once again, I took it apart).

 These are old wooden spools, not very practical storage but so cute!

This piece was an oil and vinegar holder. I love it because it holds a few of my most used adhesives all in one spot with a few of my favorite rolls of washi too.

Die Cut Background {Bella Blvd}

Recently I was given the challenge to create a die cut background for a Bella Blvd assignment. I started searching for a die cut background, something with a repetitive shape (similar to the one I used HERE on the Christmas Nerds layout) but I didn't find anything that gave me the itch to create. Then I came across THIS cut file. I immediately knew I wanted to use this cut file.

I love the look of subway art and I thought I'd try incorporating it into my scrapbooking. I thought by cutting this very large title out of white cardstock and adhering different scraps of patterned papers behind each word I would have an adorable unique die cut background.
With such a large title I kept the embellishment clusters down to two.

Previously when I've browsed through the Silhouette Store I've passed by the larger cut files. I've started to pay a little more attention since I created this project. I'll be using larger die cuts for my backgrounds in the future.

Full of Hearts (Bella Blvd & Paper Issues)

Earlier this week I had this layout on the Bella Blvd blog. We were challenged to use more than 25 of one shape on a layout. I immediately had the idea to create a background with my silhouette and back the negative spaces with patterned paper. Well, that didn't happen. I actually had the background designed and was ready to cut it when my computer crashed. I was without a couple of days so I had to come up with a different plan...Here's where my heart punch came into the picture. I punched a little heart out of each of the patterned papers in the Family Forever collection.
I'm also linking this project to the latest issue at Paper Issues. It's titled "Fill 'er Up." I linked it because it's filled with hearts!

 I added a grey heart behind each patterned paper heart and stitched them in rows to my white cardstock background.

 I also stitched my chipboard letters to add a little texture and interest. (Stitching is also a great way to make sure your chipboard stays in place.)
