Double Page Layout with Video Tutorial

Double page layouts have been a hot topic of conversation in the scrapbooking world. I've heard some complaints that there is little inspiration out there for those who love to create double page layouts. Today, I'm changing that (a little bit, at least). A few weeks ago I created a double page layout for the Weekly Scrapper blog. For that blog post I created a double page layout with the Cute Girl collection from Crate Paper (a full supply list is at the bottom of this post).

I used two pieces of white cardstock as the base of my layout. I added bits and pieces of patterned paper from the Cute Girl collection to bring continuity across the double page layout.
Not only did I have lots of photos on this layout, I had a lot to say. I added typed journaling under one of the photos. You can see how it all came together in the video tutorial on my YouTube channel.
I love adding pink, flowery, girly embellishments. With two boys in the house I don't always get to have a lot of girly layouts. With photos as cute as these ones, I went all out with the girlyness ;)

Thank you for stopping by today. I appreciate you taking time to visit my blog. Let me know (in the comments) what you think about the double page layout. Are double page layouts something you'd like to see more of in the future?

DIY Christmas Gift Bag

I know, it's only October but Christmas will be here before you know it. I'm getting a jump start on my Christmas crafting and making my own DIY Christmas gift bags. I've been playing with the new Platinum 6 machine from Spellbinders and a few Spellbinders dies. I paired a couple of Spellbinders dies with the Christmas Delivery collection by Carta Bella paper for this project. (There's a complete supply list at the end of this post.)
I created a video showing how these gift bags came together. It was really fun to play with so many different materials and have the steel ruled dies cut through them with ease.

The details on this bag add so much texture and interest to the stockings.
Since creating these two bags I've created several more. Now I have a few in my stash ready for the busy holiday season.
Have you started any holiday crafting projects? Hopefully you'll be inspired to create some DIY Christmas gift bags of your own.

Disclosure: Spellbinders sent me products to use for this project. This post also contains affiliate links. All opinions I share are my own. I only share products with my readers that I use and love. Thank you for supporting my blog.

Echo Park Paper and Imagine Crafts

Hey friends, today I'm playing along with product and designers from Echo Park Paper and Imagine Crafts. You should have arrived here from the fabulous Neva Cole. (Full blog hop list can be found at the bottom of this post.)

Fall cards are among my favorite cards to create. I decided to make a bunch of leaves with Carta Bella Ultra White Felt cardstock,  Imagine Crafts Fireworks Inks (Potters Clay, Cantaloupe, and Bamboo Leaves).
I started by smooshing ink onto scraps of cardstock using all three different colors. I made sure to let the cardstock scraps dry completely so that the leaf dies didn't tear the cardstock.
I used all three leaf dies from the Autumn Day collection. I cut lots of leaves and adhered them to a white cardstock base starting in the top left corner and trailing to the bottom right corner.
After adhering the leaves I splattered a few drops of ink all over the front of the card. In retrospect, I should have done this before I stamped my sentiment. It turned out well even though I stamped the sentiment after the ink splattering.
I love how this card turned out, I can't wait to make more of these cards with the leaves I have left over. Now, it's time to hop on over to Monica Edwards.  I know she has something fabulous in store for you.

Make sure to leave a comment on all the blogs in the blog hop so you'll be entered for a chance to win the prize.

The blog hop starts on October 7 at 9 a.m. EDT and ends on October 9 at midnight EDT.

Here's a list of the entire blog hop (just in case you lose your way).
