Can I just pretend that February and March didn't happen? Okay, not really but I do feel bad that I haven't kept my blog updated. Although, today I'll be talking a little bit more about scrapbooking heritage photos.
It's been a few busy weeks. Although, I don't like the word busy. I feel like the word busy is an excuse and it's over glorified. The truth is that I traded updating my blog and keeping up on my scrapbooking work to spend some time with family. In the month of March I welcomed a new niece and a new nephew into my side of the family. My nephew was born a healthy 8lbs 6oz. He's the most perfect little man. I adore him and love every chance I get to snuggle him.
My niece was born at 29 weeks and weighed 3lbs 3oz. We're very grateful to have her and her momma in our family. We had a very scary time when this little lady was born. I'm happy to say that my niece and her momma are both doing very well. The baby will be spending a few weeks in the NICU but so far she's been a rock-star and has done amazingly well. She's captured our hearts and we can't wait for her to come home in a few weeks. I had to wait a very long time before I got to snuggle her. I was so SO excited to finally get to hold her.
While my blog has been quiet I have been working on a few projects behind the scenes and will be sharing all of them with you very soon. Today, I do have a new project to share with you. It's a project that I shared during my Heritage Scrapinar that I did with Lain Ehmann. I think you'll love it.
On this layout I created a large vellum pocket in which I put my great grandmother's life history. It's a life history that she wrote in 1975. I machine stitched a piece of vellum on my background paper leaving the top open so I could slide the life history into the pocket.
I added my title, embellishments, and photo on the top of the pocket.
I think this technique of stitching a vellum pocket onto a layout is a great way to add so many documents (report cards, certificates, essays, lengthy journaling).
I'll be repeating this technique over and over again.
