Scrapbooking with Triangles

Scrapbooking with triangles is a hot trend right now. I struggle to follow a lot of trends and this is one of them. I do, however, like how this project turned out.

The triangles on this project aren't as prominent as they are on some of the projects I've seen on Pinterest. I created these triangles by cutting patterned paper into 3 inch squares and then cutting them in half diagonally (from corner to corner).

To some of the triangles I added another smaller triangle. I created these triangles by cutting a 2 1/2 inch square and then cutting them in half on the diagonal (corner to corner).

I added my journling in a few words scattered throughout the page using small black Thickers.

The title of this layout is "13." The journaling is simply a few of the things my son enjoys doing at the age of thirteen.

When a "trend" is intriguing and inspiring to you, make it your own and make it work for you! I made the triangles trend work with my style, a little differently than others make it work but I love it.

I found a few examples of layouts created using triangles:
Snapshots of my girl by Heather Leopard
Memories by Nicole Nowosad
We are Made of Stories by Elizabeth Kartchner
Adrienne Alvis PSL Love (the second layout in this blog post)
Wonderful You by Mel Blackburn (the second layout in this blog post)

Is there a trend that you like but you're not sure how to incorporate it with your own style? Maybe something like scrapbooking with triangles?

Scrapbooking with Transparencies

At CHA I noticed that there are a lot of companies that are releasing transparent paper and embellishments. Bella Blvd is one of those companies with transparencies. These transparencies are so adorable and there are two different kinds. I used them both on this layout.

The polka dot transparencies I used on this layout are called "clear cuts." Clear Cuts come in tons of bright fun colors and several patterns to accompany all of Bella Blvd's new lines. I cut several colors of the polka dot clear cuts and stitched them to white cardstock to create a fun colorful background.

Behind the photo I used another kind of transparent paper. This one is called an "invisible"

Can we just talk about this photo for one second?... I love it, like really, really love it. I know it's totally imperfect but it's totally us.

The invisibles are less transparent and are made of a thicker, heavier weight plastic. It's not too thick though, it went through my sewing machine with no problems. The other difference in the invisibles is that they come with fancy edges. The one I used on this layout is a scalloped edge.

I also used some of the invisibles on THIS project:

Isn't that big scalloped apple piece cute?!?! I can't wait put more of these on my projects. If you still need a few more ideas on how to use these two products you can find more ideas HERE. You can also find more details about these here:
Are Clear Cuts and Invisibles on your must have list? I know I'm ordering more of the gold and silver polka dot Clear Cuts ;)

I used the Bella Blvd Max collection to create this layout. This collection is a little bit older but I love it! It's perfect for boys of all ages.

Scrapbooking with Circles

Hello! Happy Tuesday! Lets talk about scrapbooking with circles, okay?

Lets talk Tuesdays have been lacking around here...I'm sorry! Through the holidays I've struggled to stay on track with scrapbooking projects. I should be back to posting regularly again very soon! Today I'm just popping in with a quick post about incorporating circles into your layouts.

I used the * Crate Paper Oh Darling collection for most of this layout. It's an older collection but it's one that I'm hanging onto. I think it's adorable!

I did something on this layout that I haven't done for a long time. I cut my photo into a circle and I actually love the results. I have a super scientific way of getting my photo to fit into the center of that doily...it's a bowl. Yep, I took the doily (I used a * Bo Bunny Medium Doily) and found the right size of bowl that I wanted my photo. I cut out the photo and adhered it to the center of the doily.

Really there are better ways to cut circles but right now but I'm in between circle cutters. I had a really old Coluzzle (remember those?). Well, mine finally broke and I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the * Martha Stewart Circle Cutter. Do you have a circle cutter that you love? There's also the option of cutting circles with an electronic die cutting machine. I LOVE my * Silhouette Cameo and I use it when I need to cut more shapes or when I need to cut a more intricate shape. When I need small circles my go to tool is always * circle punches

To make the layout flow and have a more cohesive feeling I made sure to add a few more circles. To keep the circle theme going without overwhelming the layout I added a few drops of spray mist. My favorite spray mists are * Heidi Swapp color shine. The glimmer that is left when these spray mists dry stole my heart the first time I saw it. I rarely use any other spray mists.

I added a circular element to each of the embellishment clusters. Easy peasy! Do you find scrapbooking with circles difficult? Hopefully you found a little bit of information that will make scrapbooking with circles easier.
